ITEM 3: HISTORIC BOARD REVIEW Development Review- 509 Overland Drive, Lot 4, Block 5, Original Townsite of Kenai. Application submitted by Don Petroze, P.O. Box 2523, Kenai. Alaska. DeForest indicated the existing building is in bad shape and anything done at the location would be an improvement. Preston expressed concern the structure depicted in the applicant's packet was too modern and didn't fit with the criteria outlined in the ordinance. Huhndorf reported he met with the applicant and no longer had any concerns after the project was explained to him. However, Huhndorf agreed with Preston and thought perhaps the applicant could consider different siding for the new structure. Kebschull stated she received a letter from HDB member Bill Kluge (the architect on the Board), and he was in favor of the plan submitted by the applicant. Kebschull continued, the building was not a registered historic site, so it didn't really have to come before the Board. The Board recommended the applicant consider utilizing siding material consistent to the flavor of Old Town. Councilman Moore suggested the members stay for the Planning and Zoning meeting which was to immediately follow and give testimony at the public hearing on the subject. ADJOURNMENT: , Work session adjourned at 6'58 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Barbara Roper, Contract Secretary HISTORIC DISTRICT BOARD SPECIAL MEETING JUNE 14, 2000 PAGE 2
