Th~'~rs. KENA I ADV ! SORY L I BRARY COMM I SS I ON Kenai Community Library Kathy Heus, Chair November 6, 1990 1. CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Chair Hues at 7'34 p.m. 2. ROLL CA..L.L..: Commissioners present were: Heus, Wetzel, Redes, Turner, and Altland. A1 so present were Emily DeForest, Library Director; Coucilwoman Monier, Ad Hoc; and Ethel Clausen, KPC Librarian. 3. APPROVAL ,OF A~...ENDA:_.. Dr. Turner moved to approve the aqenda by unanimous consent. Motion carried. 4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF SEPT_~.qB~-R 4:,_ Dr. Turner moved to approve the minutes by unanimous consent. Motion carried. 5. PERSONS SCHEDU,.LED TO BN HEARD: None. 6. DIRECTOR'S REPORT: Director DeForest reported arrangements have been made for the Book Sale to be on February 15 and 16, 1991. The City wants the update to the Comprehensive Plan prior to their meeting on November 28 so the Commission will need to act on it this meeting. The City Christmas party will be December 14 and the Library Christmas Open House will be December 13. 7. OLD BUSINESS: A. Library Goals and Objectives. Commissioners reviewed' the Goals and Objectives line item by .line item. Additions and deletions were noted and a new sheet will be typed by Chair Hues who will deliver it to the City~ 8. ~,I. BUS, !NESS_: A. Book Sale for 1991 will be February 15 and 16. Elsie and Mike Seaman have donated heated storage space ~o.r the books in a vacant apartment of theirs and 22 boxes of books for the sale have already been stored there. B. Mary Jean Lewis will be in charge of a "Buy a Book for Your Library ~or Christmas" program. Books will be purchased that the library wants and needs and those wishing to participate will help pay ~or them. Debbie Faulk is heading up an area-wide photo contest with the subject of reading. Photographs need to be in by the ~irst of the year. KENAI ADVISORY LIBRARY COMMISSION Novmeber 6, 1990 Page -2- Josephine has retired after many, many years of service to the library. She was given a donation to help buy art supplies for her recently acquired hobby. Carla Curry has been hired in her position. 9. COMMISSIONER'S COMMENTS & QUESTIONS: A few commissioners voiced their appreciation as to how well the Goals and Objectives were addressed at this work session. Everyone's help and support is appreciated, especially Director DeForest's efforts. 10. AD J0~RNMENT: Commissioner Rodes moved to adjourn and Dr. Turner seconded.
