CALL ~ ORDER.,,.~ The. meeting was Called to Order b~ Chair Heus at 7:30 p.m. 2. ROLL~ CAL. L..;~.. Commissioners present were: Heus, Turner, Quesnel, and Brenckle. Also present were Library Director DeForest and KPC Librarian Clausen. 3. APPROVAL .OF AGENDA_i_ Heus asked to put the Book Sale under Old Business. BRENCKLE MOVED TO APPROVE AGENDA BY UNANIMOUS CONSENT. TURNER MOVED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES BY UNANIMOUS cONSENT. QUESNEL SECONDED AND MINUTES WERE APPROVED. 5. PERSON8 ..... SCHEDULED ..... TO.: BE ,,_HE~D ;~_ K1 avdia Benner Klavdia is visiting the area from Magadan, Russia. She spoke of the Schoo! and library systems in her coUntry as compared' to t.he United States. Klavdia's daughter will be attending Mountain View Elementary and will be staying with Commissioner Brenokle. 6. D!'RECTOR 'S_ REPORT; . __ '~. budget is currently being prepared. There will 'be no funding for ne~ personnel nor ~ill the mill rate be increased to help for ne~ funding. However, the good ne~$ is that the library has not sustained any Cuts. DireCtor DeForest will be attending the State Library Conference in Fairbanks beginning February 28. Weekend attendance at the library 'has been steadily increasing to over 200 people/day served. 7. OLD. BUSZNES,.S: a. New Chair. QUESNEL NOMINATED HANSON AS CHAIR AND TURNER AS VICE-CHAIR. BRENCKLE SECONDED. MOTION UNANIMOUSLY CARR I ED. .KENAI ADVISORY LIBRARY COMMISSION · February 4, 1992 - 2 - b. Chris~mas open House. The Open House held on December :17 was a great success and many new ~aces were seen during the' event. The reading performances were a big hit also. c. Book Sale. This year the Book Sale will be held Thursday through Saturday, February 13-15, in the Kenai Cart's Mall from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Volunteers are needed and a sign up sheet is on the back door. The Library Board will also · be~.~.nvolved in this event. 8.. NEW_ BUS INESS: a. Commi.ss~~rl ~-:=v~~e~:"'~"~'"'l:ast year's goals and~ objectives HEUS MADE A MOTION TO MOVE ~OAL C TO ~OAL A AND MOVE OBJECTIVE 4 TO THE FIRST OBJECTIVE POSITION. QUESNEL SECONDED. MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY. There Was discussion of revising various dates within the. ~oals and Objectives and also incorporating .building restraints and new regulati, ons under the Disa'b~li2y Act. Turner volunteered to revise the date.S and goals i~ Reed would type them before the nex~ meeting. b. Welcome New and Returning Commissioners. All conenissioners were thanked for their support and work on the Library Commission. c. Next Meeting Date. Due to. DirectOr DeForest attending the State Library Conference, the March meeting is Postponed' until Tuesday, March 10, 1992, at 7: 30 P.m. 9. C_~_OMMISSlON.. C~ENTs ..&., .QUESTIONS: Heus reminded Commissioners that Wetzel resigned ~rom the Commission creating another vacancy. She askedcommissions to recommend and encourage potential candidates to apply t!he position. Heus also thanked all the commissioners for their support during her tenure as Library Commission Chair.
