ROLL CALL Present: McComsey, Siebe~t, Smith, W~igh~ Absent: Hul~be~g, Siekawitch, 2. PERSONS SCHEDULED TO BE HEARD a. Baseball Fields Carol Osborne, Kenai resident. Mrs. Osborne stated that she would like to see new basebalI fields, this 1rem for discussion was referred to the Parks & Rec Commission by the Council. A) reasons for needing a new field: 1. it lakes 2 years to make a field 2. short of fields last year, a Iot of games had ~o be played at night, share wlth the American Legion and dust bowl 5 team increase Ias[ year, possibiy 4 more teams [his year 4. charier for big league ball, 16-18 years old 5. the dus[ bowl is going to be used for business by next year whlch makes i Iess field Gladys Rou[h. Mrs. Rou[h stated that there are new minor league teams and possibly major leagues for softball. We can not turn kids down which wllI become necessary with these new adult teams. Ozzie Osborne, Kenai resident. Mr. Osborne stated that he is opposed to the possibility of closing over night camping at ~he Municipal Park. A possibility would be to start charging campers. MOTION: Commissioner McComsey moved, seconded by Commissioner W~ight to ~ecommend to Council that the Municipal Pa~k remain a 72 hou~ camp- g~ound with no fees until such time that the City o~ p~ivate enterprise p~ovides an alternate camping site. C._ .Budget The budget is being handled differently this year. The budget will not go to City Hanage~ but straight to Council. A report will come later afte~ Council ~eview. d. Arco 3esse Owens Games 3une 28th is the date for the preliminary meetings in Kenai. Winners go to Anchorage and are called South Alaska Regional. There are eight regions and Alaska has two of them. Speculation is ~hat this may be the last year of the Games. MOTION: Commissioner Wright moved, seconded by Commissioner McComsey to nominate Dick Hul%be~g as Chairman and Roger Siebert as Vice Chalrman VOTE: Motion passed unanimously 7.
