CENTER CHAIRMAN HULTBURG PRESIDING MINUTES Meeting called to order by Chairman Hultburg. Present: Dick Hultburg, Art McComsey, Roge~ Carlson Marvin Siekawitoh, Tom Wright Absent: Seibert, Oerry Director's Report. Rec. Director MoGillivray ~eported that .the Arco Oases Owens t~ack meet would be Oune 28 at 1:00 ~t at the Kenei High school track. The Anchorage Regional meet will be on July 12 ~nd the N~tionel will be Aug. 8 in Los Angeles. Adult softball is going strong with 25 men's and women's teams this year. Two tournaments have been held already with 1~ teams fo~ the Co-ed tournament on May 24 & 25 and 26 teams fo~ the men's Kingfish tournament on Oune 7 & 8. MO~e tournaments a~e on the schedule with the Women's Invitational on Oune 28 & 29, the Clarion Men's Invitational on Ouly 19 & 20 and a men's State Class E tournament on Aug. 23 & 24. The~e is a possibility of a women's State tournament also in August. Rec. Director MoGillivray reported that the summer crews have been hi,ed end are working. A check 'was ~eceived from the Kalifo~nsky Christian school $1,000 fo~ use of [he gym du~ing Ihs school year. for The Commission went over the proposed camping ordinance and had some concerns on how it was to be monitored and enforced. Rec. Director McGillivray reported on his presentation to'the. President's Council on Americans Outdoors, held in Anchorage on 3une 2. Discussion was held on the ball field situation. Rec. Director McGillivray reported on the discussion at the last Council meeting end the concensus of the Commission was to try to come up with 2 Little League fields and another softball field and do it as economically as possible. They felt a complex of several fields ~as a good idea and should possibly be considered in a long range plan. Rec. Direc~o~ McGillivray reported on plans for ~he upcoming Alaska Recreation and Rark Assoc. S~a~e conference in Anchorage on Sept. 11 & 12. There are sessions being planned for commissions and boards and Mr. McGillivray urged the commissioners bo consider abbending. No further business, meeting adjourned. /.? 3anef.
