1. ROLL CA~L,. :.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Hultberg at
7:08 p.m. Commissioners present were: Hultberg, Carlson,
Hanson, Massie, Sandahl, and Boedeker. A1 so present was
Parks Director McGillivray.
2. OLD BUSINESS:

At the January meeting it was recommended to retain
approximately a five-acre parcel from the ~oreclosed
property sale for public use. At that time there was
discussion o~ retaining a portion of a 77-acre tract lying
east of Mommsen Subdivision. Administrative Assistant Kim
Howard did some research and found another city-owned parcel
of land. of approximate size and location known as Tract A,
Mommsen's Addition No. 2 and wondered if this parcel would
achieve the same goals o~ the Commission for a future park.
ACTION TAKEN: MASSlE MOVED TO APPROVE THE RETENTION FOR

FUTURE PUBLIC'USE OF TRACT A, MOMMSEN'S ADDITION NO. 2 AS
OUTLINED IN MS. HOWARD'S LETTER. MOTION WAS SECONDED BY
CARLSON AND PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.

Budget. Director McGillivray presented the proposed Recreation,
Parks, and Beautification budgets and discussed each line
i tern.
Under the Recreation budget, he will ask for a full-time
position and' eliminate one temporary part-time position.
This would help to allOw Bill Musson to do more recreation.
programs, rather than limiting him to the Teen Center. He
wants to decrease Repair & Maintenance by $800 but would
like to re-paint the exterior of the ~irst part of the
building and would like to replace carpeting. Under
equipment, he is requesting' an exercise bike of approximately
$2,200 to $2,600 to replace a "home-use" type being used.
He is not asking ~or a computer terminal this year.
Under the Park budget, he will ask ~or an increase in
utilities to cover lighting o~ Little League fields and
lighting at the new ice rink location i~ it is moved from
it's present site. He will ask for $33,500 for a mower.

Under the Beautification budget, he will ask '~or less under
small tools and repairs/maintenance, however, some transfers
were made to repair/maintenance supplies ~or Christmas
lighting. He will not be asking Eot any machinery or
equipment; however, $16,000 Eot sidewalks ~or the Memorial
Park will be added under improvements.
The proposed budget is due February 20 and the City Council
will Be discussing the budget in March. Commissioners 'were
encouraged to attend the budget meeting at that time.
ACTION TAKEN: SANDAHL MOVED TO RECOMMEND THE BUDGET AS
PRESENTED. CARLSON SECONDED. MOTION CARRIED.
4. INFORMAT ION :_
Director McGillivray passed around a brochure of the Small
Town Institute meeting he is hoping %o attend in April.
5. ADJOURNMENT :,
The next regular meeting was scheduled %o March 12, 1991.
