KENAI PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION

ROLL CALL: PRESENT: James E. Fisher, Ruby Coyle, Al Cruver, Al Hudson,
and Nick Poppin.
ALSO PRESENT: Stan McLane and Red Jaynes.
ABSENT: Loretta Knackstedt and Jack Wiliford.
Stan McLane reported the difficulty in naming the 2 1/2 acre
tracts on the 660 foot intervals. After much discussion,
Coyle moved and Crdver seconded to reverse the Planning &
Zoning's actions of July 22, 1970, using 660 foot intervals
and change it to 330 foot intervals. The motion carried
unanimously.
Coyle moved and Cruver seconded that the streets going East
and West beginning with the base line, that every other
street will be designated by letter "A, "B" etc.,. and that
every other street be designated a name starting with the
letter "A", "B", etc. The motion carried unanimously.
Mr. McLane will furnish the City with a card file with the
subdivision name, lot and block of each lot that has a
building on it, with the street address so that when someone
comes in for a building permit he can also get his house
number.
Mr. McLane pointed out some streets that needed clarification
of starting anal ending points, etc. Poppin moved and Hudson
seconded to name the street (part of which is now called
Beaver Loop Extension) that starts at the Kenai Spur across
from Beaver Loop, crosses Willow Street and connects or will
connect with Main_Street, as "Main Street Loop". The motion
carried unanimously.
Cruver moved and Coyle seconded to name the road, part of
which is now called Mission Ave., goes by the Russian Church
and may extend to the Kenai Spur as "Mission Road". The
motion passed unanimously.
Coyle moved and Hudson seconded to name the road going behind
the old PN,~ building and goes on the the Cemetary as "Coral
Road" .

Hudson moved and Poppin seconded to change Sterling Street, Harbor
Street and Portlock Street in Central Heights to Sterling Court.
The motion carried unanimously.
Coyle moved and Cruver seconded to deYete Rdgers Road north of
the base line and designate it as 9th Avenue.- The motion
carried unanimously.
It was the consensus of the Commission to have Phil Wilson
name the road he is on in Ron`s Acre on the Beaver Loop Road.
The suffix will be a court or circle.
Anticipating drastic changes in F.A.A. the Commission will do
nothing as to street names in this area at this time.
Coyle moved and Mudson seconded to change Lake Street and Broad
Street in the Original Townsite to its counterparts in numbers.
The motion carried unanimously.
Poppin moved and Coyle seconded to name the road on the Kenai
Beach to the brow of the hill, "Kenai Beach Road". The motion
carried unanimously.
The road from the intersection of Trading Bay to Roberts
Bielefeld's trailer now known as Granite Point Road, will now
be known as"Granite Point Court."
The short road going from Main Street to Andy's Flying Service
will be named "Airport Court."
