A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE CITY OF KENAI LAND MANAGEMENT PLAN TO CHANGE THE
LAND MANAGEMENT DESIGNATION OF TRACT E, BOAT RAMP SUBDIVISION FROM "RETAIN" TO
"MIXED — RETAIN/DISPOSE."
WHEREAS, the City of Kenai adopted the City of Kenai Land Management Plan by Resolution No. 2022-
51 to provide guidance for the management, retention, and disposal of City -owned lands; and,
WHEREAS, Tract E, Boat Ramp Subdivision, Kenai Peninsula Borough Parcel No. 0495009, consists of
approximately 6.55 acres located north of the Kenai River along Bridge Access Road; and,
WHEREAS, the Land Management Plan currently designates the parcel as "Retain" based on its potential
use for alternate access to the City Dock and related seasonal activities; and,
WHEREAS, only a small portion of the parcel is utilized for alternate access to the City Dock, while the
majority of the property remains undeveloped and is not required for the continued operation of the
access route; and,
WHEREAS, the parcel is located within the Working Waterfront (WW) Zoning District, which is intended
to support water -dependent and water -related uses, commercial development, tourism, recreation,
community facilities, and other uses that contribute to economic activity and public benefit; and,
WHEREAS, the parcel is adjacent to existing commercial development and is suitable for future
development consistent with the purposes of the Working Waterfront Zoning District; and,
WHEREAS, amending the Land Management Plan to change the parcel's designation from "Retain" to
"Mixed — Retain/Dispose" would provide the City flexibility to consider future development opportunities
while retaining the ability to preserve access, easements, rights -of -way, or other property interests
necessary to support continued access to the City Dock; and,
WHEREAS, the Council finds that changing the land management designation of Tract E, Boat Ramp
Subdivision is consistent with the goals of the Land Management Plan and in the best interests of the
City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA:
Section 1. That the City of Kenai Land Management Plan is hereby amended to change the
designation of Tract E, Boat Ramp Subdivision, Kenai Peninsula Borough Parcel No. 04950009, from
"Retain" to "Mixed — Retain/Dispose."
Section 2. That the City Manager is authorized to update the Land Management Plan and associated
land inventory records to reflect this amendment.
Section 3. That this Resolution takes effect immediately upon passage.
