Called to order by Chairman Ron Malston at 7:OOpm.
Those members present were: Sallie Bailie, Penny Dyer, Ron Malston, Louisa Miller,
Lon Hols, Jim Carter, Connie Keevil.
Members absent were: Tom tlurphy, Jim Evenson, Leroy Heinrich.
Also Attending were Mayor Tom blagoner, City Mgr. Bill Brighton and Councilman
Measles arrived later.
Organizaiionai Priorities were set as follows:
i. Site Selection
2. Type of Facility
3. Number of People we wish it to accomodate
4. Design
5. Funding
Maps of the city lands available were distributed. It was unanimously agreed
that 5 acres should be requested for present facilities as well as future
expansion. The 12 acre parcel adjacent to the Senior center seemed to be the
choice of the members. The 5 acres favored will be decided upon after the
members have looked over the site. Members will meet with Bill Brighton at
10:00am on Monday, March 5th at the City Hall. Bill will take the members to
theproposed site for inspection.
Plans of the Sitka and Valdez Centers were passed around. t~tuch discussion followed
on the type of facility and the size. It was agreed to save any further decisions
until members had a chance to think about the discussion.
Jim Carter will bring up the Center for discussion at the Kenai Chamber Board
Meeting on Friday, h1arch 2.
PJext meeting of committee will be March 14 at City Hall at 7:OOpm.
