A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
KENAI, ALASKA, RECOMMENDING COUNCIL ADOPT THE KENAI PENINSULA
BOROUGH ALL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN.
WHEREAS, the City of Kenai recognizes the threat that all hazards pose to
people and property; and,
WHEREAS, undertaking hazard mitigation actions before disasters occur will
reduce the potential for harm to people and property and save taxpayer dollars;
and,
WHEREAS, an adopted all hazards mitigation plan is required as a condition of
future grant funding for mitigation projects; and
WHEREAS, the City of Kenai participated jointly in the planning process with
other local units of government with the Borough to prepare an All Hazards
Mitigation Plan;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY OF KENAI PLANNING AND
ZONING COMMISSION RECOMMENDS COUNCIL ADOPT THE KENAI PENINSULA
BOROUGH ALL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN AS AN OFFICIAL PLAN; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Kenai will submit on behalf of the
participating municipalities the adopted All Hazards Mitigation Plan to the
Alaska Division of Emergency Services and the Federal Emergency Management
Agency officials for final review and approval.
