RESOLUTION NO. PZ07-49
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
KENAI, ALASKA, RECOMMENDING TO THE COUNCIL THAT KMC 14.15.060{b) BE
AMENDED TO CHANGE THE HEIGHT OF HOUSE NUMBERS FROM ~ THREE INCHES
(3") IN HEIGHT TO FOUR INCHES (4") TO PROVIDE CONSISTENCY WITH THE
INTERNATIONAL FIRE CODE.
WHEREAS, KMC 14.15.060(b) requires house numbers be no less than three inches (3") in
height; and,
WHEREAS, the under KMC 8.05.010 (1) the City of Kenai adapted The International Fire Code,
2003 Edition, First Printing; and
WHEREAS, The Internatianal Fire Cade, 2003 Edition, First Printing in Section 505.1 requires
house numbers be no less than four inches {4"); and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Kenai to amend KMC 14.15.060(b) to be
consistent with The International Fire Code, 2003 Edition, First Printing by phasing in a
requirement for four inch (4") numbers.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
KENAI RECOMMENDS THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, AMEND
KMC 14.15.060(b) as follows:
(bJ Such number or numbers shall be placed on existing buildings on
or before the effective date of this chapter and within twenty (20) days
after the assigning of the proper number in the case of numbers assigned
after the effective date of this chapter. The cost of the numbers shall be
procured and paid for by the property owner. The numbers used shall be
not less than three inches (3") in height and shall be made of a durable
and clearly visible material. Be ig'nning on Janua .Try 1, 20,08, new
buildings or existing buildings assigned new numbers or replacing
existing three-inch f3"] numbers must use four-inch (4") numbers.
