ADJOURN: MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF KENAI CITY PLANNING COMMISSION February 23, 1970 PRESENT: Bob Norene, Mark Beauchamp, Al Cruver, James Fisher, Loretta Knackstedt ABSENT: Nick Poppin MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING were approved as read. OLD BUSINESS: Discussion of the Park and Recreation Board Members followed the reading of the minutes At this point Mrs. Ruby Coyle came in. Mrs. Knackstedt volunteered to compile a list of organizations that might want to sit on the Parks and Recreation Board. The secretary is to write letters to these organizations asking them whether they have members willing to sit on the Parks and Recreations Board. Discussion of the number of Board Members followed. Motion by Fisher to accept a list of prospective persons interested in the aspect of Recreation Planning in Kenai and invite all those people to attend a meeting so that a governing body of the Parks and Recreation may be selected. Seconded by Loretta Knackstedt. Motion carried unanimously. Jim Fisher moved that the Planning Commission ask the Council that no less than $25,000 be budgeted for Parks and Recreation and Cemetary. Seconded by Loretta Knackstedt. Much discussion followed on the merits of having a Recreation Program within the City. Jim Fisher moved that a letter be directed to the main legislators asking whether or not ther is any legislation pending that might help the city's Recreations program financially. Seconded by Loretta Knackstedt, Motion carried unanimously. Loretta Knacksted moved the City Council invest- igate the possibility taxing as real property trailers and any other personal property that may not be taxed at the present time. Fisher seconded motion carried unanimously. Previous motion was for the reason of budgetary problems of the City. Discussion of power problems followed.
