KENAI ADVISORY PLANNING ZONING COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 26, 1970

ROLL CALL: PRESENT BOB NORENE, LORETTA KNACKSTEDT, AL CRUVER, JAMES FISHER.
ALSO PRESENT DARBY HOWELL
ABSENT RUBY COYLE, NICK POPPIN, JACK WILLIFORD
MINUTES: MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF AUGUST 26, 1970 WERE APPROVED AS READ.
OLD BUSINESS:
NEW BUSINESS:
CHAIRMAN NORENE read a letter from the Borough Planning
Zoning Commission stating that they would send review check Lists
with the plats in approximately 2 months, how ever they will
start sending their staff reports with the plats right away.
CHAIRMAN NORENE read a letter from the City Manager regarding
the Tideland Survey. The survey is completed, however there are
Jhore Fiehery Leases involved and will be awhile before the
transfer. A few questions arose. 1. Has there been a consideration
of money plan of the Tidelands? 2. Does the Tideland Survey
provide adequate inventory to the Tidelands we are entitled to?
3. Has there been any consideration as to what protection there
is going to be afforded to the Shore Fisheries Lessees?
It was discussed and agreed upon to have a representative of the
Kenai Advisory P Z Commission to appear at the City Council
Meetings. It was also discussed that the City P Z Commission
have a representative of the City to appear at the meetings of
the P Z Commission.
It was agreed upon that we should ask the Council what has
happened to the Armory.; rode have receivethno responses to our
correspondence.
KNACKSTEDT moved that the vacation of the east 20 of the 50'
right -of -way along Baker St. within the lots of 149, 158, 175
of Sec. 34 T 6 m. R 11W. S.M. in the City of. Kenai replat as
Terra B subdivision be granted provided the 30' is matched
adjacent to other roads. FISHER seconded Passed Unanimously.
As a footnote to the motion, we did not have adequate maps on this.
The City P Z Commission received a petition from the residents of
Candlelight Drive in the City of Kenai to retain the name of the
street. The street was originally named by an early resident,
Helen Jones and has historical and sentimental value to the older
residents. It was signed by ten (10) residents.

SECRETARY'S REPORT
ADJOTTRNFD
Darby Howell was the only one on hand for the public hearing
on street naming. There were too many conflicting meetings,
iir. Howell asked if it would help if people ca me up with names.
The chairman said the P Z invited the public to submit names.
Mr. Howell said he would try and stir up some interest in his
neighborhood. FISHER made a motion to recess the public hearing
until we could get more publicity and set it for the first
meeting in September ie, September 9, 1970. CRUVER seconded
passed unanimously.
It was also agreed upon to invite ,`Stan McLane and Sam Best
to our next meeting.
LORETTA KNACKSTEDT gave the Secretary's Report. She
reported that the Borough Planning and Zoning Commission would like
to have the City Planning Zoning Commission to come up with
recommendations and ideas etc. on the Kenai Peninsula Borough
Ordinance 70 -1, an Ordinance relating to zoning. It was agreed upon
to re -study and to make our comments on this ordinance.
