MISSION
To premote the membership of the Kenai Convention &Visitors Bureau and the city of Kenai through destination marketing.
To support economic: development of the city of Kenai through the visitor's industry.
To serv as the professional facility manager of the Kenai Visitors &Cultural Center.
'Co promote the history, arts and culture of Kenai and Alaska.

Management Contract with the City of Kenai

Ala presented the Board with a packet of infomtation which included every
correspondence to date between the KCVB and the City of Kenai. Ala, to date
had not received a response from the City of Kenai regarding the KCVB letter and
contract submitted to the City Manager on September 11, 2009. Ala and Steckel
stated that they had met with the City Manager on October 20 °i regarding the
2010 Kenai Visitor Guide and the management contract. The City Manager was
not positive regarding the prospect of moving forward in the negotiations. The
City Manager told Ala and Steckel that the City would put the contract out for
RFP by January if the negotiations did not progress. The City Manager said he
would be writing the KCVB a formal letter of response (to our September 1 I
letter) by October 30

The Kenai City Council unanimously voted to approve 510,000 for the 2010 Kenai
Visitors Guide. Thor Evenson has been commissioned to produce artwork for the
2010 cover,

1. Organizational Restructu

Due to the serious financial difficulties experienced by the KCVB, Ala presented
the Board with options to restructure the organization for the purpose of reducing
expenses. The Board instructed Ala to make the following changes. The KCVB
Finance Director position would be illuminated. KCVB accounting and finance
will he handled by Ala who will work with Hammer Accounting to conduct the
finances for the organization. The Center would remain close on Mondays, but
remain open under normal operating hours Tuesday though Saturday. All fiill-
time hourly staff would be reduced to working four days per week.
2 Programs Exhibits
a. 2010 Summer Show
The 2010 summer show will be an exhibit of the icons, objects, paintings
and historic photographs of the Russian Orthodox Church. A committee
comprised of Peggy Amess, Dorothy Grey, Laura Forbes, Father Thomas
and Natasha Ala has been meeting and developed a project description for
the exhibit scheduled to open April 23, and run through September 2010.
b. Kenai Industry Museum John Williams
John Williams had been asked to curate a permanent exhibit at the Center
on the history of oil and gas in Kenai. Williams is interested in perhaps
creating a museum in Kenai dedicated to industry. The Board discussed
this idea and supports Williams in moving forward with the project.
