REVIEW OF CITY CLERK APPLICATIONS CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Porter called the work session to order at 6:00 p.m. ROLL CALL: Council Members Present: Mayor Pat Porter Councilmember Terry Bookey Councilmember Brian Gabriel Councilmember Ryan Marquis Councilmember Bob Molloy Also Present: Linda Murphy, ClerkWorks Alaska Absent: Vice Mayor Mike Boyle Councilmember Joe Moore REVIEW OF APPLICATIONS: Mayor Porter asked each councilmember present to give their opinion of the applications received to date. The Council was surprised by the lack of response from municipal clerks and deputies from around the state. Ms. Murphy noted that there may have been a feeling among the members of AAMC that the current deputy clerk was the likely first choice of the Council, and this may have led to a reluctance to apply for the position. It was a consensus of those present to reopen the application period through September 15, 2011, and Ms. Murphy was asked to send an email to the AAMC membership encouraging interested members to submit their resumes for review by the Council. The Council further asked Ms. Murphy to advertise a work session for Friday, September 9, 2011, beginning at 1:00 p.m., for the purpose of interviewing the top four candidates selected from the resumes received thus far. She was asked to contact the four applicants (Harmony Curtis, Corene Hall, Toni Prins and Laurie Walters) and set up interviews with them, with one hour allocated for each. Ms. Murphy stated that she would prepare a set of interview questions as promised in her original proposal and would forward them to the Council by the end of the week. Mr. Molloy asked if it would be appropriate to give each candidate a scenario requiring a written response in order to judge their written communication skills. Ms. Murphy stated that she would present a sample scenario along with the interview questions. Finally, Ms. Murphy was asked to contact the applicants who were not chosen to be interviewed, thanking them for their interest. ADJOURNMENT: The work session as adjourned at 6:29 p.m. Icy Linda S.
