KENAI CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS MAYOR PAT PORTER, PRESIDING NOTES Council present: Mayor P. Porter, R. Molloy, M. Boyle, R. Marquis, T. Bookey, B. Gabriel, T. Navarre Others present: City Manager R. Koch, City Clerk S. Modigh, City Attorney K. Sterns, Kenai Chamber of Commerce 8v Visitor Center Representatives F. Braun, J. Butler, B. Shiflea. Mayor Porter began the work session at approximately 5:30 p.m. City Manager Koch provided an overview of the Assignment of the Facility Management Agreement between the City of Kenai and the Kenai Convention and Visitors Bureau, Inc. Jim Butler provided an explanation of the merger between the Kenai Chamber of Commerce and the Kenai Convention 86 Visitors Bureau and advised the newly merged Kenai Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center (KCCVC) recommended Council approve the Assignment of the Facility Management Agreement. Mayor Porter opened the floor for public comments. The following spoke in favor of approval of the Assignment of the Facility Management Agreement: Ricky Geese Debbie Harris Fred Braun Jim Butler Brendan Shiflea Carol Bannock Theresa Moyer Council Member Boyle read into the record email correspondence from Joseph Rizzo in opposition of the merger process. Council, administration, and representatives of the KCCVC discussed details of the current agreement, services outlined in the agreement, political aspects of the newly merged organization, and possible amendments to the agreement. Mayor Porter, Council Member Gabriel, and Council Member Navarre spoke in favor the approving the Assignment of the Facility Management Agreement with KCCVC. City Manager Koch advised the agreement would be provided to council for approval at the March 7, 2012 meeting.
