Frates, Parks & Recreation Directo DATE: May 25, 2012 SUBJECT: Project Updates The following is an update of various projects and activities that the Parks & Recreation Department is involved in for the summer 2012: Project Status: • Municipal Park Playground Expansion Project - Nancy Casey (Casey Planning and Design) has completed the final draft review. Bid Forms have been developed by Public Works with bid opening scheduled for June 12`h. • Little League Field Improvements — Most of the monies allocated have been procured and several of the products already received, i.e., clay bricks, ball field soil amendments, screening and safety netting. Screened soil will be delivered the first of June and the construction of bullpens is also scheduled to begin the week of June 1s`. Soft start date for reconstruction of the Senior League Field is mid -June. • Trail Project — Trail crew has been hired except for an equipment operator. Position was opened backup and closes June 4`h. Most of the needed supplies for trail construction have been purchased (miscellaneous tools /equipment, gravel, etc.) Trail segment along Ryan's Creek and been flagged, including clearing width, hazardous trees, etc. An orientation and training manual for this crew has been developed. Groundbreaking will occur week of June 4th. • Daubenspeck Family Park — Line locates are being performed for installation of new park sign purchased last fall. Sign will be installed up front in the landscaped island between the parking lot and Marathon Road. Pending items include installation /construction of beach frontage, miscellaneous landscaping and installation of horse -shoe pits. Director Frates will coordinate with City Manager for date /time of a formal dedication for the Community and Duabenspeck Family. • Vintage Point Sprinkler Project — Project completed mid -May. Note: Erik Hansen Scout Park will receive an underground sprinkler system this early fall. • Leif Hansen Memorial Park Landscape Project — Awarded to B &B Landscape. Work to take place week of June 18th.
