SUBJECT: Ordinance 2256-2007
The purpose of this correspondence is to discuss the above referenced ordinance and to
reco~nend its approval by the Council.
This appropriation accepts a $ 150,000 grant from the State of Alaska for the purpose of
constructing an enclosed, heated garage at the City's Public Safety Building. The garage
would be located in the wane area presently serving as a carport on the southwest portion
of the building.
The construction of an enclosed, heated garage will eliminate the need for police
department vehicles to remain outside, idling, during periods of cold weather.
We are presently working with a consultant to deternrine if any additional funding may
be required to complete this project.
Thank you for your attention in taus matter.
