CITY OF KENAI
ORDINANCE NO. 2279-2008
AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA INCREASING
ESTIMATED REVENUES AND APPROPRIATIONS BY $39,238 IN THE GENERAL FUND
FOR A GRANT FOR POLICE EQUIPMENT AND TRANSFERRING $11,831 IN THE
POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR THE GRANT MATCH.
WHEREAS, the City of Kenai received a grant from the Alaska Highway Safety Office
titled "Staying on the Road," and the overall objective of the grant is to increase the
number of hours that patrol officers are patrolling and/or visibly present on/near
Kenai roadways by equipping their cruisers with high quality laptop Toughbooks and
video recorders, which will allow them to replay audio/video evidence in the cruiser,
and also allow them to write traffic reports in the cruiser; and,
WHEREAS, the digital evidence server is essential for storing the high quality digital
evidence, and the server gigabit switch is needed to expedite the uploading of digital
evidence from the laptop to the evidence server; and,
WHEREAS, the Alaska Highway Safety Office has authorized the City of Kenai to
purchase all of the equipment at a total cost of $47,325, with a 25% match required
by the City of Kenai, and that an additional $3,744 is allotted by Alaska Highway
Safety Office for indirect costs with no City of Kenai match; and,
WHEREAS, the required matching funds are available for transfer from the Police
Department Salaries account due to vacancies.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI,
ALASKA that:
Section 1: Estimated revenues and appropriations be increased as follows:
