Re: Request for Ordinance Increasing Revenues and Appropriations to Police Small Tools
to purchase an outdoor kennel for Police Canine "Chevron"
In 2006 the Kenai Police Department Canine Program was put in place and Central
Peninsula Crirnestoppers agreed to serve as a repository for private businesses to make
donations to the Kenai Police Canine program to help cover the costs of dog purchase,
training and ongoing supplies.
Tn Apri12008 Crimestoppers advised Chief Kopp that for tax purposes they no longer
wished to hold funds for the Kenai Police Canine program. A check for $3,217.00, the
balance of funds for the Kenai Police Canine program, was written to the Kenai Police
Department.
I am requesting an ordinance to increase esti_ma±ed revsnnes and apprcp=:ate these ands
to Police Small Tools for the purchase of an outdoor kennel for Canine "Chevron" at his
handler's residence. "Chevron" currently does not have an outdoor kennel. Estimated
costs for materials and labor is $4,000.00.
