Re: Kenai Historic Cabin Move Project
The Kenai Historical Society has undertake the project of moving several historic cabins in Old
Totem Kenai from their e~.isting location to a permanent area also in Old Town. Each of the
cabins to be moved was in need of preparation and repair prior to moving. Absent this
preparation and repair the move would have likely destroyed the structures.
1'he Kenai Historical Society was not in a position to hire employees to perform the work. In
order to facilitate the project, the City entered into agreement with the Society to employ an
individual to perform the work and be reimbursed by the Society for all costs incurred. Worked
commenced in February and was completed in April. The Society has been invoiced $8,590.27
for the total cost the employment.
EYpenditw~es for the employment were recorded in the City's Parks Department. In order to
assure adequate budget remains for the summer, temporary positions the reimbursement needs to
be appropriated. The appropriation will replace fhe budget utilized in facilitating the historic
cabin move project.
