HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 2147-2006Suggested by: Administration CITY OF KENA% ORDINANCE NO. 2147-2006 AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, INCREASING ESTIMATED REVENUES AND APPROPRIATIONS BY $15,000 IN THE GENERAL FUND FOR AN ALASKA HIGHWAY SAFETY GRANT TO REIMBURSE THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OVERTIME ACCOUNT. WHEREAS, the City has received $10,597 from the State of Alaska to reimburse the police department for specific highway safety program overtime expenditures; and, WHEREAS, the reimbursement is for overtime paid to police officers working targeted DUI traffic enforcement under state highway safety grants; and, WHEREAS, the Kenai Police Department participated in grant-funded DUI enforcement patrol efforts during Fourth of July, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years with an overtime expenditure of $10,597; and, WHEREAS, approximately $4,403 in additional reimbursable highway safety program overtime expenditures will occur by June 30, 2006; and, WHEREAS, the City of Kenai annual motor vehicle accident report shows a direct correlation of motorist safety to our participation in the Alaska Highway Safety Program to reduce vehicle crashes and occupant injuries due to drug and alcohol impaired driving.
