ORDINANCE NO. 2147-2006
AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA,
INCREASING ESTIMATED REVENUES AND APPROPRIATIONS BY $15,000 IN
THE GENERAL FUND FOR AN ALASKA HIGHWAY SAFETY GRANT TO
REIMBURSE THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OVERTIME ACCOUNT.
WHEREAS, the City has received $10,597 from the State of Alaska to reimburse
the police department for specific highway safety program overtime
expenditures; and,
WHEREAS, the reimbursement is for overtime paid to police officers working
targeted DUI traffic enforcement under state highway safety grants; and,
WHEREAS, the Kenai Police Department participated in grant-funded DUI
enforcement patrol efforts during Fourth of July, Labor Day, Halloween,
Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years with an overtime expenditure of
$10,597; and,
WHEREAS, approximately $4,403 in additional reimbursable highway safety
program overtime expenditures will occur by June 30, 2006; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Kenai annual motor vehicle accident report shows a
direct correlation of motorist safety to our participation in the Alaska Highway
Safety Program to reduce vehicle crashes and occupant injuries due to drug
and alcohol impaired driving.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
KENAI, ALASKA that estimated revenues and appropriations be increased as
follows:
