SUBJECT: LED Streetlight Installation - 2009
On May 12, 2009, the City received the following two bids for furnishing and
installing LED streetlights. The basic bid is a per fixture price.
Big GElectric - $1,190.00
Kachemak Electric - $1,038.00
Kachemak Electric is the low bidder but did not include an Addendum
Acknowledgement with the bid. Under contract specifications, the City reserves
the right "to waive any and all irregularities." This is a minor irregularity in the
bidding that did not impact the bid results. It is my opinion that waiver of the
minor bid irregularity is in the best interest of the City. Mark Cialek, Kachemak
Electric, stated that he was aware of the addendum but forgot to include it, and
he has since submitted this form to the City.
My recommendation is to award the bid to Kachemak Electric for $1,038.00 per
each fixture. A purchase order to Kachemak for the amount of $73,698.00 for
71 fixtures is also in the packet for Council approval.
