A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, AWARDING A
CONTRACT TO BLAZY CONSTRUCTION, INC. FOR THE PROJECT ENTITLED KENAI
RECREATION CENTER LOCKER ROOM UPGRADE 2010 FOR THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF
$38,000.00.
WHEREAS, the following bids were received on February 9, 2010.
WHEREAS, the Blazy Construction, Inc. bid is the lowest responsible bid and award to
this bidder would be in the best interest of the City; and,
WHEREAS, the recommendation from the City Administration is to award the contract
to Blazy Construction, Inc. for the total cost of $38,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, sufficient monies are appropriated.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI,
ALASKA, the contract for the project Kenai Recreation Center Locker Room Upgrade
2010 is awarded to Blazy Construction, Inc. for the total amount of 538,000.00.
PASSED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, this 17th day of
February, 2010.

SUBJECT: AWARD OF CONTRACT: Kenai Recreation Center Locker Room
Upgrade 2010
This project will provide upgrades to the gym -side locker rooms located at the Kenai
Recreation Center. Project will include repair and painting of ceilings and walls,
replacement of partitions, fixtures, counter top, base molding, mirror, and boiler room
doors along with electrical upgrades. One set of lockers in the men's locker room will
be replaced as well.
Bids for this project were opened February 9, 2010 at 2:OOpm. A total of 5 bids were
received and reviewed by administration. One bidder elected to withdraw and another
was determined non responsive. All other bid documents were complete and
responsive and it has been determined that Blazy Construction, Inc was the lowest
responsible bidder.
The 38,000 bid price exceeds the 34,000 allocated for this project in the FY2010
budget. It is recommended the additional funds be taken from general building
maintenance account.
The attached Resolution is recommending award to Blazy Construction, Inc for the total
cost of $38,000.
