DUNES ELEVATED LIGHT PENETRATING WALKWAYS /RAMPS SUPPLY RELATED APPURTENANCES 2010; COUNCIL RESOLUTION TO AWARD CONTRACT The following sealed bids were opened at City Hall on August 11, 2010 at 2PM for the subject project: In this project, the contractor will supply and fabricate from the design documents the necessary materials to elevate the two existing walkway gratings on the North Dune. The City will take these fabricated materials and install the walkway grating to the design elevation at both locations at the North Dune. Nelson Engineering provided the design and specifications for this project. The bidders were provided an opportunity to view the existing grates at the City yard in preparation for the bid. The apparent low bid is from Kenai Welding. Following the bid opening, we contacted Kenai Welding about the results of the bid. Kenai Welding stood by their bid even though it was below the Engineer's Estimate. There are sufficient funds for this project. I recommend City Council approve the award of this contract to Kenai Welding.
