This project was unable to go Yo bid until the schedule for the Airport Improvemenfs ProjecY was determined, since topsoil and peat from the airport projec2 is incorporated in the soccer field construction. As a result of the delays in the airport projecT, regardless o£whether a contract for construc2ion of the soccer fields is awarded in August of 2006, ar March of 2007, the fields wili not be ready to support a state soccer tournament scheduled to be held in Kenai late in 1he summer of 2007. Bidding the project in March of 2007 will take advantage of a more competitive bidding environmenT, and also provide the opportunity to explore additional funding altematives if necessary. Thuilc you for your attenrion in this matter. There remains $ 281,000 of dedicated project funding
