PASSED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI,.~~KA, this seventh day of July 2004. ' ~V~ILLIAMS, MAYOR ATTEST' Carol L. Freas, City Clerk Approved by Finance' ,~'~ MEMORANDUM To' From' Jack LaShot, Public Works Manager Robert Springer, Building Official Date' 6-15-04 Re' Recreation Center Gym Floor Repair Bid On May 11,2004 we received one bid to repair and refinish the wood gym floor at the Kenai Recreation Center. It contained a price for the work as specified in the bid documents and an alternate price to complete the project in another manner. After review of the alternate method I believe it should be substituted for the original bid specifications. The difference is there is no sanding of the flooring and one less finish coating will be applied. Sanding of the flooring would actually be detrimental resulting in the thickness of the flooring to be decreased thus requiring replacement sooner. Also the price is considerably less, which makes this a more desirable method of maintenance.
