CITY OF KENAI
RESOLUTION NO. 2005-15
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, AWARDING A
CONTRACT TO KUSTOM SIGNALS INC. FOR A SPEED/MESSAGE TRAILER FOR THE
TOTAL AMOUNT OF $26,714.
WHEREAS, the following quotes were received by the Kenai Police Department:

WHEREAS, the Kustom Signals Inc.'s trailer meets the specifications; and,
WHEREAS, there are only two companies that make a speed/message trailer with the
Kenai Police Department's desired features; and,
WHEREAS, of the two vendors that make a speed/message trailer with the needed
features, the Kustom Signals Inc.'s quotation was the lowest; and,
WHEREAS, the recommendation from the City Administration is to award the contract
to Kustom Signals Inc.; and,
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Kenai has determined that Kustom Signals Inc.'s
trailer meets the required specifications and award to this vendor would be in the best
interest of the City; and,
WHEREAS, sufficient monies are appropriated.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI,
ALASKA, that the contract for a Speed/Message Trailer be awarded to Kustom Signals
Inc. for the total amount of $26,714.
PASSED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, this 20th day of April,
2005.

Speed/Message Trailer Bid
I have received bids for the speed/message trailer from Kustom Signals Inc. and Decatur
Electronics. They are the only two companies that make a speed/message trailer with the
police department's desired features. Kustom Signals Inc. has the lowest bid at $26,714.
Decatur Electronics provided a bid of $28,960 for a speed/message trailer with the same
features. Both bids include shipping. It is my recommendation that the City of Kenai
purchase the Kustom Signals speed/trailer due to a savings of over $2,200.
