22ESOLITTION NO. 20®8-54
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, REQUESTING
THAT THE STATE OF ALASKA ESTABLISH THE LOWER KENAI RIVER DRIFT BOAT
PULL-OUT PROJECT AS A HIGH PRIORITY FOR STATE AND FEDERAL FUNDING.
WHEREAS, drift boat activity on the Lower Kenai River has been increasing and will
continue to do so in the coming years; and,
WHEREAS, drift boat activity does not discharge aromatic hydrocarbons into, or
contribute to turbidity in the Kenai River; and,
WHEREAS, the increasing drift boat activity on the Lower Kenai River has also created
an increasing need for a new drift boat pull-out on the lower river; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Kenai supports the construction of a new drift boat pull-out on
the Lower Kenai River; and,
WHEREAS, construction of a new drift boat pull-out on the Lower Kenai River would
increase recreational opportunities for the citizens of Alaska; and,
WHEREAS, the State of Alaska has undertaken a study to confirm the need, and
preferred locations for a drift boat pull-out on the Kenai River; and,
WHEREAS, the S'ta'te of Alaska can request and ufiiize federal funding for land
acquisition and construction of a drift boat pull-out.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI,
ALASKA, that the City of Kenai requests the State of Alaska establish the Lower Kenai
River Drift Boat Pull-Out Project as a high priority for State and Federal Funding.
PASSED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, this 17th day of
September, 2008.
