HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 2637-2012the «ty of K Al, ALASKA ANy Suggested by: Administration CITY OF KENAI ORDINANCE NO. 2637 -2012 AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA INCREASING ESTIMATED REVENUES AND APPROPRIATIONS BY S 120,000 IN THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY CAPITAL PROJECT FUND FOR A VOICE OVER INTERNET PROTOCOL PHONE SYSTEM FOR WHICH FUNDING WAS PROVIDED AS PART OF THE FY2013 BUDGET. WHEREAS, as part of the FY2013 Budget, Council approved the transfer of $120,000 to the Information Technology Capital Project Fund for a Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) phone system; and, WHEREAS, to complete the authorization to expend funds for this project, the project must be appropriated in the Information Technology Capital Project Fund; and, WHEREAS, once complete, the VOIP system will replace five existing phone systems, provide a higher level of service, and reduce annual communication costs of departments. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, that estimated revenues and appropriations be increased as follows: Information Technology Capital Project Fund Increase Estimated Revenues: Transfer From Other Funds - General Fund Increase Appropriations: Improvements $120,000 $120,000 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that this ordinance shall not be effective until July 1, 2012. The new VOIP system will provide greater phone system flexibility, replace at least five legacy phone systems, and reduce operating costs for the City in the future. This ordinance simply completes the appropriation process for the capital project and will allow the project to commence with the starting of the new fiscal year on July 1, 2013.
