RESOLUTION NO. 2011 -63
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, AWARDING A
CONTRACT TO NORTH STAR PAVING & CONSTRUCTION, INC. FOR THE PROJECT
ENTITLED MAIN STREET RECONSTRUCTION 2011 FOR THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF
$157,131.00.
WHEREAS, the following bids were received on August 9, 2011:

; and,
WHEREAS, North Star Paving & Construction, Inc. bid is the lowest responsible bid
and award to this bidder would be in the best interest of the City; and,
WHEREAS, the recommendation from the City Administration is to award the contract
to North Star Paving & Construction, Inc. for the total cost of S157,131.00; and,
WHEREAS, sufficient monies are appropriated.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI,
ALASKA, the contract for the project entitled Main Street Reconstruction 2011 is
awarded to North Star Paving & Construction, Inc for the total amount of
$157,131.00.
PASSED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, this 17th day of
August, 2011.

SUBJECT: AWARD OF CONTRACT; Main Street Reconstruction 2011
Rick,
This project is funded by a grant from the State of Alaska Department of
Commerce, Community and Economic Development, Division of Community and
Regional Affairs as part of the Main Street Reconstruction - Grant 09- DC214.
This project is for the reconstruction of 400'LF of Main Street Loop between
Highland Ave and the Kenai Spur Hwy including excavation of the frost
susceptible material under the road surface and replacement of the curbs and
sidewalks. Additive Alternate 1 replaces an additional 100' LF of damaged
asphalt between Overland and Highland Avenue.
On August 9, 2011 at 2:OOpm we received 3 bids for the above project. These
bids have been reviewed and it was determined that North Star Paving &
Construction, Inc was the lowest responsive bidder. The bid documents were
complete and responsive and sufficient funds are available to complete the
project.
The attached Resolution 2011 -63 is recommending award of the contract to
North Star Paving & Construction, Inc for the total bid cost of $151,131.00.
