HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2013-07Suggested by: Administration rho tyof CITY OF KENAI KENA SKA RESOLUTION NO. 2013 -07 A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO ACCEPT OWNERSHIP OF A VEHICLE FORFEITED IN A FEDERAL INVESTIGATION. WHEREAS, a federal agency has offered a forfeited vehicle to the Kenai Police Department, for use by the Police Department and its' officers; and, WHEREAS, the Kenai Police Department took possession of the vehicle on February 8, 2013; and, WHEREAS, the Kenai Police Department has a long -term operational need for the vehicle, and is requesting a resolution for the City to officially accept ownership. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, THAT THE CITY OF KENAI ACCEPT OWNERSHIP OF A VEHICLE FORFEITED AS A RESULT OF A FEDERAL INVESTIGATION. The federal agency offered the vehicle, as is, at no cost to the Police Department. The vehicle is expected to be used for Police operations. The Kenai Police Department has a long -term need for the vehicle. City mechanics are in the process of assessing the integrity of the vehicle's mechanical and other systems. I am requesting a resolution authorizing the Kenai Police Department to officially accept ownership of the vehicle.
