HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2013-22Suggested by: Administration CITY OF KENAI RESOLUTION NO. 2013 -22 A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF CENTRAL HEIGHTS SUBDIVISION ROADWAY AND LIGHTING IMPROVEMENTS TO ALASKA ROADBUILDERS, INC FOR AN ESTIMATED TOTAL COST OF $449,125. WHEREAS, the following bids were received on April 23, 2013; BIDDER BASE BID TOTAL Alaska Roadbuilders,Inc. $449,125 Engineer's Estimate $469,000 and, WHEREAS, ALASKA ROADBUILDERS INC.'s bid is the only responsible bid and award to this bidder would be in the best interest of the City; and, WHEREAS, ALASKA ROADBUILDERS INC.'s bid is lower than the Engineer's Estimate; and, WHEREAS, the recommendation from City Administration is to award the contract to ALASKA ROADBUILDERS INC. for the total cost of $449,125; and, WHEREAS, sufficient monies are appropriated. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, that the contract for the project entitled "Central Heights Subdivision Roadway and Lighting Improvements" be awarded to ALASKA ROADBUILDERS, INC. for the total amount of $449,125. The project consists of removing and replacing 2" of asphalt on Portlock Street, Harbor Avenue, Sterling Court, and Tern Avenue. The existing streetlights will be replaced with new, and storm water infiltrator basins will be installed in the cul -de -sac and corners where there are drainage problems.
