ORDINANCE NO. 2573 -2011

AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, INCREASING
ESTIMATED REVENUES AND APPROPRIATIONS BY $80,901 IN THE GENERAL FUND CITY
MANAGER AND PARKS DEPARTMENTS FOR THE RECEIPT OF A GRANT FROM THE STATE
OF ALASKA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION FOR BACTERIA LEVEL
MONITORING ON THE CITY'S BEACHES DURING THE 2011 PERSONAL USE FISHERY.
WHEREAS, the State of Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation has issued a grant
to the City for bacteria level monitoring during the 2011 Personal Use Fishery; and,
WHEREAS, monitoring will be provided through a cooperative agreement with the Kenai
Watershed Forum; and,
WHEREAS, in addition the City shall provide educational pamphlets to be distributed to the
public and signage to inform the public; and,
WHEREAS, bacteria levels during the 2010 Personal Use Fishery tested at elevated levels that
could pose a health risk to the fisheries participants and City residents utilizing the beach;
and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to monitor the bacteria level on its beaches to
protect its visitors and residents from potential dangers caused by the waste generated by the
Personal Use Fishery.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA
that estimated revenues and appropriations be increased as follows:

Parks - Printing & Binding 1,000
Parks - Operating & Repair Supplies 3,500
