HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 2574-2011air ay rf KENAI, ALASKA CITY OF KENAI ORDINANCE NO. 2574 -2011 Suggested by: Administration AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, INCREASING ESTIMATED REVENUES AND APPROPRIATIONS BY $72,552 IN THE ANADROMOUS FISH PROTECTION CAPITAL PROJECT FUND FOR THE RECEIPT OF A GRANT FROM THE STATE OF ALASKA DEPARTMENT OF FISH AND GAME, DIVISION OF SPORT FISH, TO FUND EFFORTS TO CONTROL INVASIVE REED CANARY GRASS ON THE KENAI RIVER, BEAVER CREEK, SLIKOK CREEK, AND JOHNSON LAKE. WHEREAS, the State of Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Sport Fish has issued a grant to the City, in the amount of $54,707, to fund efforts to control invasive reed canary grass on the Kenai River, Beaver Creek, Slikok Creek, and Johnson Lake; and, WHEREAS, the Kenai Watershed Forum will operate the grant under a cooperative agreement with the City and provide the local match of $17,845 in the form of equipment usage per the grant's cooperative agreement; and, WHEREAS, the spawning and rearing areas for salmon are threatened by this invasive plant; and, WHEREAS, the health and protection of the Kenai River and its native salmon are vital to the City of Kenai and it's residents; and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA that estimated revenues and appropriations be increased as follows: Anadromous Fish Protection Capital Fund Increase Estimated Revenues: State Grants $54,707 Miscellaneous Income - In -kind 17,845 $72,552 Increase Appropriations: Professional Services 72 552 New Text Underlined; [DELETED TEXT BRACKETED] Ordinance No. 2574 -2011 Page 2 of 2 PASSED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, this third day of August, 2011.
