HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2014-01/ Suggested by: City Clerk tHeL'ty� CITY OF KENAI KENALALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 2014 -01 • RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING • BUDGET TRANSFER WITHIN THE GENERAL FUND CITY CLERK DEPARTMENT FOR THE PURCHASE OF EMAIL ARCHIVING EQUIPMENT. WHEREAS, the City budgeted $8,000 in FY2014 for the purchase of email archiving software to prevent accidental or intentional deletion of email that may be considered public record; and, WHEREAS, the City Manager, the City Attorney, Clerk and IT Manager have agreed that purchasing the Barracuda Message Archive appliance will meet the current needs of the City by providing long term archiving of all email sent and received by a City email account; and, WHEREAS, the funds allocated for purchase of the Barracuda Message Archive appliance are available in Computer Software, but must be transferred to Small Tools /Minor Equipment to complete the transaction; and, WHEREAS, pursuant to Kenai Municipal Code 7.25.020- City Budget Control, a budget transfer over $5,000 requires Council approval; and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, the following budget transfer be made: General Fund - From: City Clerk - Computer Software $8,000.00 To: City Clerk - Small Tools /Minor Equipment $8,000.00 PASSED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, this 2nd day of January, 2014. It has been determined that purchasing the Barracuda Message Archive appliance will meet the current needs of the City by providing long term archiving of all email sent and received by a City email account. To complete the purchase of the equipment, it is necessary for Council to approve a budget transfer within the General Fund Clerk's Department from Computer Software to Small Tools /Minor Equipment.
