HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2014-05Suggested by: Administration CITY OF KENAI RESOLUTION NO. 2014 -05 • RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING • BUDGET TRANSFER WITHIN THE GENERAL FUND - NON - DEPARTMENTAL AND STREETS DEPARTMENTS FOR THE PURCHASE OF A REPLACEMENT PLOW TRUCK. WHEREAS, a Streets Department plow truck was destroyed in late December leaving the Department short one plow truck; and, WHEREAS, per the City's insurance policy, the City does not purchase comprehensive or collision coverage for vehicles with a value of less than $50,000 and as such there are no insurance proceeds available for the purchase of a replacement truck; and, WHEREAS, the Streets Department has identified $18,053 in previously appropriated funds that can be used for replacement of the truck and the remaining funds are available in the City Manager's Contingency account; and, WHEREAS, pursuant to Kenai Municipal code 7.25.00 City Budget Control, a budget transfer over $5,000 requires Council approval; and WHEREAS, no budget transfer is required for the funds identified by the Streets as they are already in the proper account but the remaining $17,500 from the City Manager's Contingency will require Council action. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, the following budget transfer be made: General Fund: From: Non - Departmental - Contingency $17,500 To: Streets Department - Machinery 8s Equipment $17,500 PASSED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, this 15th day of January, 2014. I propose using the funds in the 8064 Machinery & Equipment account in the total of $18,053. The 3 pieces of equipment that these funds are currently appropriated for are not as critical as replacing the truck, and can be requested again during next year's budget process.
